    Brasil acaba de cosechar su segundo ciclo de maíz, popularmente llamado “Milho Safrinha” (Second Season corn en inglés), en las regiones Central y Sur del país. De acuerdo con la Empresa Brasileña de Investigación Agropecuaria, EMBRAPA, la plaga mas importante de este cultivo es el Gusano Cogollero (Spodoptera frugiperda) el que puede ocasionar perdidas superiores a 40 % de producción de maíz, el cereal mas cultivado en el país.
