    The Indian Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIBRC) approved 35 registrations of pesticide technical and 56 formulation products at the meeting of the Registration Committee in March, 2020, including 18 herbicides, 15 insecticides/acaricides, 10 fungicides and 48 bio-pesticides. Bio-pesticides occupied more than half this time.

This month’s reduction in the U.S.-China trade tensions has improved the outlook for profit margins and exports at Indian manufacturers after a tepid 2019, the analysts said. India’s chemicals shipments increased at about 21% annually between 2014 and 2018 before moderating last year due to the trade war and slower economic growth, they wrote. The trade between India & China has grown to USD 87 billion in FY19, imports being the major component. It will have some positives and negatives for India in the short to medium-term.

In addition, liquidity crisis negatively impacted the consumption demand and market sentiments. As a result, the economic growth rate took a hit. The total sales of the top 20 companies reveals an overall increase of Rupee 70 billion (a 18.2% Y-o-Y growth) over the previous year, approximate equal to the total of the last seven enterprises on the top 20 list.
